Guys: Take Care of Your Long Winter Hair

Long haired men need quality hair care.

Quality hair care is a must for long haired men.

Today, many men sport longer hair styles. However, some don’t know how to properly take care of their hair to ensure it looks healthy. Using quality hair care, such as the best sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, is just one step in the process. These tips will ensure your hair looks amazing.

Do Your Research First

Before you grow your hair out, it’s important to make sure you do your research and are prepared to care for it. If you can’t take the right steps to keep your hair looking great, it’s best to keep it shorter. For many men, this level of hair care requires extra time. It needs to fit into your lifestyle so you have time to dedicate to it every day.

Buy the Right Tools

With longer hair, you can no longer run a comb through your hair and go about your day. You’re going to need more than that. A wide-toothed comb and high-quality hair brush are an absolute necessity. If you intend to tie your hair back occasionally, purchase bands coated in cloth to prevent snags and breaks in your hair.

Use the Right Quality Hair Care Products

When you have long hair, it’s important to know how to wash it. Using the best sulfate free shampoo and conditioner every day will keep your hair well hydrated and ensure it looks and feels healthy. Before you wash it, run a wide-tooth comb through your hair so you aren’t left to detangle wet hair. In addition, it’s important to dry your hair carefully to prevent tangling and breakage.

Keep It Loose

There are many reasons you may have for pulling your hair back, but for the most part, it’s important to keep it loose. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t tie it back. A looser ponytail holder is required to help prevent breakage. It’s also important to avoid wearing tight hats because it can cause a condition known as traction alopecia, which results in hair loss.

Avoid Damaging Elements

Keep your hair looking great with the best sulfate free shampoo.

The best sulfate free shampoo will keep your hair looking great.

Swimming is an excellent pastime in the summer and can help keep your body healthy, but it’s not great for your hair. However, if you use a good shampoo and leave in conditioner before and after swimming, you can protect your long hair. Likewise, it’s important to protect your hair from sun damage as much as possible. Wear a hat or scarf outdoors and consider buying a leave in sunscreen made for your hair.

Get Regular Trims

Even if you don’t want to cut your hair, it’s important to trim the ends every six to eight weeks. This will remove dry, brittle or split ends of your hair and encourage healthy hair growth. You don’t have to remove a lot of hair to have the desired effect.

Quality hair care is essential if you want to grow your hair out longer. While using the best sulfate free shampoo and conditioner is an important element in this process, there are other things you should know to keep your hair healthy. With the right attention and tools, you can enjoy healthy hair, no matter how long you grow it.

If you’re looking for quality hair care products to take care of your long hair, contact us. We carry all the products you need for healthy hair.

How You’re Damaging Your Hair Without Even Knowing It

Battle dryness with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo can help battle dryness.

You may be using the best sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, but did you know you could still be causing your dry hair? Many people understand they need to use the best hair care products, but they aren’t aware of the other things they may be doing to damage their hair. Once you are aware of these dangers, you will be able to make adjustments to your routine to reduce damage and ensure healthy, beautiful hair.

Washing Your Hair

Believe it or not, washing your hair can actually cause damage, especially if you do it too often. Even the simple process of getting your hair wet can make your hair susceptible to breakage. If you aren’t using quality sulfate free shampoo and a leave in conditioner, your hair products could be causing damage.

Brushing Wet Hair

Before styling, use a leave in conditioner.

A leave in conditioner before styling can help.

It’s tempting to brush your hair while it’s still wet to save the heat of blow drying and to get moving more quickly. However, while your hair is wet, it is more likely to become damaged. Running a brush or comb through your wet hair will cause breakage and snapping.

Towel Drying

Instead of the blow dryer, many people reach for the towel to dry their hair to avoid the heat. Unfortunately, this can cause even further damage to your hair. When you rub your vulnerable wet hair with a towel, it damages the cuticles of the hair, making it look frizzy and increasing the occurrence of damage later on.

Blow Drying It

Did you know your blow dryer can cause dry hair?

Your blow dryer could be contributing to dry hair.

If you don’t have a lot of time, the blow dryer can be one of your first lines of defense to avoid leaving your home with a wet head. However, the hot air from your blow dryer quickly dries the outside of your hair, leaving the inside wet and causing the cuticles to become dry and brittle. When the hair bends, it will be more likely to crack.

Heat Styling Tools

Curling your hair or using a straightener can create the beautiful hair styles you’re looking for, but they will cause damage to your hair in the process.  Ironing dry hair will crack the edges of the cuticle, while using it on wet hair causes other issues. The heat of the iron will instantly evaporate any water, resulting in bubbling and buckling of the cuticles.

Dry and windy weather can cause a lot of damage to your hair, but your hair care practices can also play a role. Unfortunately, most people aren’t aware what they are doing is actually harming their hair. For this reason, it’s important to make sure you take a closer look at your favorite practices and make adjustments so you can reduce the amount of damage that occurs to your hair. Along with using the right sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, you can eliminate your dry hair and enjoy healthy, beautiful hair.

If you’re looking for the right hair care products to protect your hair, contact us. We carry sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner for healthy, beautiful hair.

Complete Your Halloween Costume with the Perfect Hairstyle

Halloween is just around the corner. If you’ve been planning your costume for this year, one of the most important aspects should be your hair style. While many people buy expensive wigs for the event, simple hair extensions and the use of quality hair products for remy hair can do the trick. The following tips will help you create an epic Halloween hair style.

The Mermaid Look

Complete your mermaid look with hair extensions.

Hair extensions can help complete your mermaid look.

Mermaids can be a great option for a Halloween costume if you want something exotic and different from the typical horror costumes. To create a classy look for your hair, apply mousse to slightly damp hair and use a curling wand to create loose curls. Separate the curls a bit with your fingers for the ideal mermaid look.

A Retro 50s Style

Create a retro 50s look with hair products for remy hair.

Hair products for remy hair can create a retro 50s look.

Many people love to dress up in past decades for this holiday. After you have your costume all ready to go, you’ll need to find ways to fix up your hair to match. For a Lucille Ball look, you don’t have to buy a wig or cut your hair to achieve the look you want. Instead, separate out a section of hair at the front and center of your head. Pull the rest of your hair back and pile it into a loose bun. With the hair you set aside, curl it under with a large barreled curling wand. Tie a handkerchief around your head and you’ll be ready to go.

Game of Thrones Braids

Create great looks with hair extensions.

If you have shorter hair, hair extensions can help.

One of the most popular trends today is the Game of Thrones series. This means more people will be dressing up as these characters this year. Fortunately, this look isn’t one that requires a full wig. While you may need hair extensions, you should be able to create this look without investing a lot of money. Simply brush your hair down straight and braid thin sections of hair at the front sides of your head. Wrap the braids around to the back of your head and secure underneath your straight hair with bobby pins.

A Medieval Maiden

Create a softer look with hair products for remy hair.

Hair products for remy hair create a softer look.

Another popular option is to dress up as a medieval maiden. First, you need to work some mousse through your hair. Be sure to use your fingers to create the tousled look you need. Gently pull your hair to one side over your shoulder to the front and braid it loosely, securing it with an elastic band.

While you may need a wig, along with a wig shampoo and conditioner, you can create many great hair styles that complement your Halloween costume. While it may be the focal point of the night, you can really pull off the complete look by focusing on how you style your hair.

If you’re looking for the best hair products for remy hair, contact us. We offer a full selection of hair products that will make your hair look great!

Curly Boys: Learn How to Tame Your Curl Type

Manage curly hair with quality hair care.

Quality hair care can help manage curly hair.

For men, any hair type other than straight typically falls under the curly category to some degree. Whether you have wavy, kinky or coiled locks, it’s important to learn how to tame them with quality hair care, such as a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. As long as you’re using a good hydrating shampoo, you should be able to get those curls under control for a sophisticated style.

Wavy Hair

Wavy hair is one of the most common hair types for men who don’t have straight hair. This texture gently waves in a capital “S” shape, moving first in one direction and then back in the other. While these waves are often subtle, it can make styling your hair more difficult. However, with a few quality hair care products, you can help tame your waves and get them to act just the way you want. All you need is a wide-tooth comb, a hair dryer and styling mousse to create sophisticated styles that don’t leave your hair looking out of control.

Coiled Hair

Use hydrating shampoo if you have curly hair.

Hydrating shampoo is a must for curly hair.

On the other side of the spectrum, coiled hair can be incredibly difficult to manage, especially if you want your hair to be a bit straighter. This hair type grows into tight spiral-like coils that can be difficult to comb through and nearly impossible to straighten. This can make achieving a sleek, professional style extremely complicated. After washing this hair type with a good hydrating shampoo, consider using a leave-in conditioner to help enhance the level of moisture in the strands. A wide-tooth comb and a hair straightener can then help you achieve the exact style you’re hoping to attain.

Kinky Hair

Last on the list of curly hair types is kinky hair. Similar to coiled hair, kinky hair features tightly coiled curls, but these curls begin much closer to the scalp, creating almost a matted look. This hair type is most commonly found in African-American men and can be extremely difficult to manage. Before you begin styling this hair type, using extra-virgin olive oil, in addition to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, will help protect the hair from damage. To style, a hair pick and hair dryer are essential tools.

Styling and managing curly hair can be difficult, especially for men who are trying to achieve a more professional or classic look. Because there are three classifications of curly hair, it’s first important to determine which one you have and which quality hair care products are required to achieve the end result you want. Choosing the right comb, along with a hydrating shampoo, will help you more easily style your hair to avoid a messy, unkempt look.

How to Detangle Your Lovely Locks

Turn to a detangling brush for quality hair care.

A good detangling brush is an essential part of quality hair care.

Even if you use the best in quality hair care, tangling can still be a serious issue. If you’re tired of causing breakage when pulling your brush through your tangled mane every morning, it may be time to consider a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, such as a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. These tips will help you keep your hair from tangling and will ensure you can safely and comfortably remove any tangles that may occur.

Tangling During Transitioning

If you are transitioning from hair extensions back to your real hair, tangling often occurs at the point where your hair extensions meet your natural hair. Unfortunately, this is also the weakest point, which means if you simply pull your brush or a comb through the hair, you are more likely going to break out the extensions and the ends of your hair in the process. Instead, first separate as much as you can with your fingers and then gently pull a comb through the remainder. Never pull hard.

Dry versus Wet

One of the questions many people have regarding detangling is whether they should do it when their hair is wet or dry. The answer is it depends on the condition of your hair. For most people, removing tangles immediately after washing with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner is best. However, if your hair experiences excessive damage or shedding, it may be best to detangle your hair with a quality detangling brush before you wash it. Coconut oil or conditioner can be used on dry hair to help make the process go more smoothly.

Be Patient

Perhaps one of the most important methods of detangling your hair is to exercise patience in the process. When your hair is difficult to manage, it’s easy to become frustrated and just start pulling until the knot disappears. Unfortunately, this causes serious damage to the strands. Always make sure you have plenty of time to dedicate to your hair to prevent the need to rush.

Prevention Is the Key

Detangling isn’t anyone’s favorite activity, but it’s a necessity if you want your hair to be beautiful and healthy. Thankfully, you can take steps to prevent tangling so you can spend more time on styling your hair and your other daily activities. Cutting your hair no less than every three months can help prevent tangles. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase or with your hair wrapped in a silk headscarf can also reduce tangling incidents. Finally, be sure you’re using a high-quality hydrating shampoo and a detangling brush to protect your strands.

Tangling can not only cause you pain, but it can also cause serious damage to your hair. For this reason, it’s important to learn how to use quality hair care and a good detangling brush to prevent tangles in the first place and remove them when they do occur. With the help of a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, you will be able to create beautiful styles that aren’t marred by tangled or damage hair.

If you’re looking for a great hydrating shampoo to help you detangle, contact us. We carry a full-line of quality hair care products for all hair types.

Guys, Get Rid of That Frizzy Hair!

Prevent frizz with a hydrating shampoo.

A hydrating shampoo can help prevent frizz.

Frizzy hair isn’t just a female problem. Many men can also experience frizz that makes it difficult to manage their hair and keep it looking neat and respectable. Because many anti-frizz products are marketed toward women, many men don’t know where to start when it comes to managing their frizzy hair. These tips can help you keep your hair frizz-free and looking great.

Don’t Shampoo Too Often

Many men think they need to wash their hair with a good hydrating shampoo on a daily basis to keep it looking great and to remove any excess oils. However, if you’re not using a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, shampooing too often could be a contributing factor to your frizz. Instead of daily, consider shampooing every three days or even just once a week.

Keep It Moisturized

Curly hair is more susceptible to frizz because it can dry out more easily than straight hair. For this reason, it’s important to use a sulfate free hydrating shampoo that is designed to keep your hair fully moisturized. Using a leave in conditioner can also help seal the moisture in for even better results.

Use Lukewarm Water

Heat is one of the leading factors in damaging your hair. Those hot showers you take can more quickly lead to damaged hair so it’s important to tone your showers down to lukewarm temperatures to help protect your hair and keep it from frizzing.

Don’t Rely on Gel

If you want to get rid of your frizz, use quality hair care products.

Quality hair care can help reduce your frizz.

Most men turn to gel when they need to reduce frizz instead of taking care of the root cause of the problem. Hair gels and other styling products more quickly dry out your hair, which is one of the leading causes of frizz. While it’s okay to use gel occasionally, consider mixing it up by using a leave in conditioner or nothing at all on most days.

Get Rid of the Brush

Shorter, curly hair doesn’t typically take well to a brush, resulting in more frizz. This is because brushes can pull the essential oils away from the scalp and out of your hair. Instead of using a brush to style your hair, choose a wide-tooth comb. Your fingers can also be useful in styling your hair if you don’t have a comb to use.

Quality hair care lies at the foundation of preventing frizz in your curly hair. Even though many commercials you see feature women, there are things you can do to minimize your frizz and keep your hair looking great for all occasions. A good hydrating shampoo used on a regular basis, along with these tips, can provide the valuable moisture your hair needs.

If you’re looking for sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair healthy and frizz free, contact us. We carry a selection of products that will produce the results you’re looking for.

Classic Hairstyles for Men: The Side Part

Get a great hairstyle with quality hair care.

Quality hair care will allow you to create a great hairstyle.

We spend a lot of time discussing the latest hairstyles for women because let’s face it, women focus more on creating the ideal look. However, this doesn’t mean men don’t think about it at all. In fact, it’s just as important for men to exercise quality hair care, such as using a sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, as well as pay attention to the way they style their hair. Today, many classic styles are still on trend, such as the side part.

Tips for Creating a Great Side Part

Creating your side part requires a little practice. You may even have to break away from everything you’ve been taught since you started combing your own hair as a young child. Choose a side and carefully pull your comb through your hair from your temple, straight to the back of your head. Make your part as straight as possible. This will create the classic look you see in television shows and movies from the 50s and 60s.

Consider the Length of Your Hair

Create a good side part with the help of a leave in conditioner.

A leave in conditioner can help you create a good side part.

The classic side part works best for short to medium length hair. While you can achieve this style with longer hair, it doesn’t have quite the same effect. In fact, it can begin to look sloppy and less formal. In these situations, a center part or slicked back look can be better. In addition to making sure your hair is the perfect length for your side part, this hairstyle typically works better on hair that is tapered at the back and front of the head. However, be careful not to ask for a fade haircut because this doesn’t look as nice.

Use the Right Quality Hair Care Products

Once you have mastered the placement of your side part hairstyle, you need to make sure you’re using the right hair products to hold your look and keep it looking great. Sulfate free shampoo will keep your hair healthy and shiny without leaving behind too much oil. A leave in conditioner can help create the finished look you want. Hair gel or styling wax can also be used to ensure your hair stays in place. This may become a necessity if your hair is particularly short.

While many men don’t put a lot of effort into their hair, it’s still necessary to make sure you choose a hairstyle that looks polished and finished, especially for work and special occasions. The side part may be a classic look that dates back decades, but it is still a simple hairstyle that can be formal, as well as casual. With the right quality hair care products, you will be able to produce the look you want and keep your hair looking great.

If you’re looking for the best quality hair care products, including sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, contact us. We carry a full line of products designed to keep your hair healthy.

The Benefits of Deep Conditioning Treatments

Deep conditioning is the perfect supplement for sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.

Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner should be used with deep conditioning.

Quality hair care is one of the most essential aspects of keeping your hair healthy and beautiful. In addition to using a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, deep conditioning treatments should be performed occasionally to ensure your hair maintains its shine. When used in conjunction with a hydrating shampoo, it can also reduce the amount of damage.

What Benefits Can You Expect?

Chemical processing, such as perms, hair coloring and other similar processes, can severely damage the hair. Even heat exposure from styling tools and certain medications can cause damage to your hair. This is where deep conditioning comes into play. Using this process as part of your quality hair care can provide a number of benefits, including:

  • Improved elasticity
  • Restored moisture
  • More resistant to breakage

This means your hair is more likely to remain healthy when regularly conditioning your hair.

How Often Should It Be Done?

Deep conditioning is part of quality hair care.

Quality hair care includes deep conditioning.

Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner should be used on a daily basis to protect your hair in between deep conditioning treatments. One of the biggest questions people have is how often they should use a deep conditioner. For most people, deep conditioning should be done two to four times a month.  However, if your hair is severely damaged because of daily styling or regular chemical treatments, it should be done at least once a week to help restore health and vitality to damaged hair.

Tips for Deep Conditioning

There is a specific process you should follow each time you deep condition. First, it’s important to wash your hair with a hydrating shampoo. Once your hair is clean, apply the deep conditioning product from the ends to the scalp and allow it to sit in your hair for five to 30 minutes. This is best done in the shower. You can then wash and shave while you wait to rinse it out. In addition, the steam from the shower can help the conditioner work better. Rinse the conditioner out with cold water for the best results. If you can, leave the deep conditioner in overnight and rinse it out in the morning.

Regardless of how long you leave the deep conditioning treatment in your hair, you will find your hair begins to look healthier. Quality hair care requires careful attention to detail and hard work to make sure your hair remains healthy and strong. The less damage that occurs with your hair, the easier it will be to take care of.

If you’re looking for a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to use in between your deep conditioning treatments, contact us. We carry a full line of quality hair care products.

Should You Color Your Hair?

Ensure a great color with quality hair care.

Quality hair care will ensure a great color.

One of the easiest ways to transform your look is to change up your hair. For some, this means a hair cut, extensions, a wig or a brand new hair color, but should you color your hair? With all the information going around about how dyes affect your hair, you may be worried about what coloring will do to your hair. Let’s talk about the hair dying process and what effects it can have.

What’s in a Strand?

First, we need to talk about your hair itself. If you’re using quality hair care, your hair will be nice and healthy so there shouldn’t be much damage to your strands. Each strand is made up of a protein called keratin, which is also what your fingernails are made of. Keratin is arranged in overlapping scales to form each hair strand, making the hair flexible.

Each hair strand has a cuticle, which is the protective outer layer. This actually determines how healthy and shiny your hair looks so if you’ve been using your sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, your cuticle will be in top shape! If you haven’t been using quality sulfate free shampoo, your cuticle could be raised, making your hair seem dry and damaged.

Hair Dyes

Color your hair while using a sulfate free shampoo.

Use sulfate free shampoo when you color your hair.

Now that we know more about hair (and the importance of quality hair care!) let’s talk about the dying process. There are a few types of hair color we need to look at. Permanent, semi-permanent and demi-permanent hair color all have different ingredients, processes and effects on your hair.

  • Permanent: Permanent hair color is a two-step process. This is without a doubt the most damaging of the options because it forces your cuticle open to let the color in. First, ammonia is applied. This chemical causes the cuticle to open up in order to let the dye into your hair. Then, peroxide is used to penetrate the hair and remove your existing hair color. Once this process is finished, you’ll have a brand new hair color! You’ll then use a conditioner to close the cuticle again in order to seal the color inside. This process is the one used in average salon color treatments and most box hair color you buy at the supermarket or drugstore. It is important you use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner in order to preserve the color after you dye it!
  • Semi-Permanent: This process is much gentler and usually lasts about a month. This option doesn’t involve ammonia or peroxide, instead adding tiny molecules of color to your hair cuticle without dramatically changing the color. The color will fade after a few shampoos so using a sulfate free shampoo is important in order to make your new color last.
  • Demi-Permanent: This type of dye lasts longer than semi and contains no ammonia but does use a small amount of peroxide. The process coats each strand with large color molecules, helping it last longer than semi-permanent. Quality hair care and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner will help your color last even longer.

Does dying damage your hair? When done in moderation, no. However, if you dye your hair too often, it can and will result in damaged and dry hair, which will be extremely difficult to repair. If you’re looking to dye your hair, make sure it’s the color you want to cut back on dying too often!

If you want to change your hair color without damage, contact us. Our quality hair care will keep your hair looking healthy and beautiful long after you color!
