Thinning Hair? Slow Your Hair Loss!

Slow thinning hair with quality hair care.

Quality hair care can help slow thinning hair.

Thinning hair may seem like an inevitable part of life, but it doesn’t have to be. While you may need a full cap or partial cap hair replacement piece at some point in your life, with the right quality hair care, including sulfate free shampoo, you may be able to slow the process down. This will buy you some time and ensure your hair is as healthy as possible in the meantime.

Find the Cause

While some men are genetically predisposed to hair loss, a receding hairline may have a number of other causes. If you notice your hair is beginning to thin along the edges, it may be worth a visit to your doctor to determine the root cause. Some of the issues that lead to thinning hair can be resolved medically so you can slow down or even stop the process.

Use the Right Shampoo

Slowing down hair loss all begins with using quality hair care products. Sulfate free shampoo is an absolute necessity to prevent unwanted buildup and to keep your hair as healthy as possible. Be on the lookout for shampoo that claims to thicken or volumize the hair because this often means harsh ingredients that aren’t good for your hair. This can actually lead to further damage rather than correcting the problem.

Consider Dying Your Hair

Thicken your hair with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo can help thicken your hair.

Lighter shades of hair typically allow light to filter through more, which can highlight the fact you have a receding hairline, even if you attempt to cover it up. If this is the case, you can often slow the visible effects of thinning hair by dying your hair just a shade or two darker. However, if you go much darker, you are bound to draw more attention to your hair, along with the fact you may be losing some of it.

Eat Well

Eating right can go a long way toward keeping your hair from thinning quickly. If your diet consists primarily of fried foods, cut them out because they increase activity in your oil glands, which can cause damage to your hair and emphasize the thinning hairline.

Go Easy on Your Hair

Rigorous towel drying can cause a lot of damage to your hair because wet hair is more susceptible to damage. Excessive blow drying can also cause damage. When possible, it’s best to allow your hair to air dry and comb it through after it has had a chance to dry.

Thinning hair may require a full cap or partial cap hair replacement piece someday, but you can slow down the process by taking the right steps. Using quality hair care products, such as a sulfate free shampoo, can ensure your hair is as healthy as possible and reduce the risk of damage. Along with these other tips, you can keep your natural hair for longer so you can enjoy a full head of hair.

How to Keep Your Long Hair Healthy

Keep long hair looking beautiful with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo keeps long hair looking beautiful.

Does it seem like it’s more difficult to keep your long hair healthy, especially if you invest in hair extensions? While most people are aware you need to use a sulfate free shampoo and good leave in conditioner to keep your hair healthy, there are other steps you should take for the best results. The following tips will ensure you enjoy beautiful hair that looks great.

Don’t Flip It

Many women have gotten into the habit of flipping their hair upside down to towel dry it, as well as use the blow dryer. Unfortunately, this can cause more damage to your hair than keeping your head right side up.

Don’t Comb Wet Hair

Running a brush or comb through wet hair sometimes becomes a necessity because you either don’t have time to dry it or want to eliminate the tangles before you dry. However, this can actually cause more breakage. Wet hair is more susceptible to damage so it’s better to allow your hair to dry full before using a comb or brush. A good leave in conditioner can make this process easier.

Comb Carefully

Comb through long hair easier with leave in conditioner.

Leave in conditioner can make combing long hair smoother.

Longer hair is more susceptible to knots, which means you need to take care to carefully comb through it without ripping out the knots. A good leave in conditioner will help eliminate these knots and make it much easier to comb through your hair once is dry.

Get Regular Trims

Even if you have no interest in cutting your hair, regular trims can go a long way toward keeping your hair healthy. When you have split or otherwise damaged ends, your hair may not be as lush and full as you’d like. Getting an inch or sometimes even less off the ends every few months will go a long way toward removing these damaged areas and keeping your hair shiny and healthy.

Watch the Shampoo Frequency

We’ve all been conditioned to wash our hair on a daily basis, but did you know this could also be contributing to damage? While it’s important to continue using a sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, you should extend the time between washings to every other day or even every three days. Rinsing with plain water in between is your best option.

Stay Healthy Overall

One thing a lot of people overlook is their diet. Eating healthy, particularly making sure you get enough vitamin E, will mean healthy hair as well. Just like other parts of your body, your hair requires the proper nutrients to keep it healthy and beautiful.

Hair extensions are just one way to lengthen your hair, but even if you have naturally long hair, you need to learn how to take care of it so it continues to look healthy. Not only do you need to use a sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, but you also need to follow these additional steps to manage your longer locks.

How You’re Damaging Your Hair Without Even Knowing It

Battle dryness with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo can help battle dryness.

You may be using the best sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, but did you know you could still be causing your dry hair? Many people understand they need to use the best hair care products, but they aren’t aware of the other things they may be doing to damage their hair. Once you are aware of these dangers, you will be able to make adjustments to your routine to reduce damage and ensure healthy, beautiful hair.

Washing Your Hair

Believe it or not, washing your hair can actually cause damage, especially if you do it too often. Even the simple process of getting your hair wet can make your hair susceptible to breakage. If you aren’t using quality sulfate free shampoo and a leave in conditioner, your hair products could be causing damage.

Brushing Wet Hair

Before styling, use a leave in conditioner.

A leave in conditioner before styling can help.

It’s tempting to brush your hair while it’s still wet to save the heat of blow drying and to get moving more quickly. However, while your hair is wet, it is more likely to become damaged. Running a brush or comb through your wet hair will cause breakage and snapping.

Towel Drying

Instead of the blow dryer, many people reach for the towel to dry their hair to avoid the heat. Unfortunately, this can cause even further damage to your hair. When you rub your vulnerable wet hair with a towel, it damages the cuticles of the hair, making it look frizzy and increasing the occurrence of damage later on.

Blow Drying It

Did you know your blow dryer can cause dry hair?

Your blow dryer could be contributing to dry hair.

If you don’t have a lot of time, the blow dryer can be one of your first lines of defense to avoid leaving your home with a wet head. However, the hot air from your blow dryer quickly dries the outside of your hair, leaving the inside wet and causing the cuticles to become dry and brittle. When the hair bends, it will be more likely to crack.

Heat Styling Tools

Curling your hair or using a straightener can create the beautiful hair styles you’re looking for, but they will cause damage to your hair in the process.  Ironing dry hair will crack the edges of the cuticle, while using it on wet hair causes other issues. The heat of the iron will instantly evaporate any water, resulting in bubbling and buckling of the cuticles.

Dry and windy weather can cause a lot of damage to your hair, but your hair care practices can also play a role. Unfortunately, most people aren’t aware what they are doing is actually harming their hair. For this reason, it’s important to make sure you take a closer look at your favorite practices and make adjustments so you can reduce the amount of damage that occurs to your hair. Along with using the right sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, you can eliminate your dry hair and enjoy healthy, beautiful hair.

If you’re looking for the right hair care products to protect your hair, contact us. We carry sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner for healthy, beautiful hair.

Start Your Winter Hair Routine Now!

Protect your hair this winter with quality hair care.

Quality hair care will protect your hair this winter.

Like it or not, the cold weather and other features of winter will be arriving shortly. The dry, winter weather can often wreak havoc on your hair, making it more important than ever to use quality hair care products to protect your hair. Even before the first snowflake flies, it’s important to make adjustments to your hair care routine, including using hair products for remy hair, such as a sulfate free shampoo, to ensure your hair stays looking great.

Wear a Hat

It’s not just about your sense of style. Wearing a hat can protect your hair from the harsh elements. However, before you put on that wool winter hat, wrap your hair in a silk scarf to keep the strands from catching on the rough wool. This will also protect your hairstyle and prevent static when you remove the hat.

Use a Deep Conditioning Treatment

You may use this method of quality hair care at any time of the year, but it’s most important during the winter months. Not only does it replenish the moisture your hair may lose to the environment, but it also keeps your hair looking great and reduces frizz and static.

Reduce Hair Washing

Keep your hair healthy with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo can keep your hair healthy.

Take a good look at how often you wash your hair during the winter months. Washing it too much can contribute to drying out, which means it’s best to reduce the number of times you wash your hair to a couple of times a week. In addition to this, make sure you always dry your hair before you leave. This is because wet hair can easily become damaged when exposed to cold temperatures.

Get Regular Trims

You don’t have to make dramatic changes to your hair, but getting a trim once a month or every other month will remove damaged ends and encourage healthy growth in your hair. Tell your beautician you only want to remove the dry, dead and split ends and nothing more.

Buy a Humidifier

Winter air can be incredibly dry, especially inside your home when you’re running your furnace. To help combat the dry air, consider investing in a humidifier. This equipment will add moisture to the air and help keep your hair healthy and beautiful. The bonus is it can also help improve the condition of your skin at the same time.

Using a sulfate free shampoo, along with other hair products for remy hair, is just part of the process of keeping your hair healthy and beautiful all winter long. Understanding what you should do to ensure quality hair care for the winter months allows you to get a head start before the weather gets too cold.

If you’re looking for the best hair products for remy hair, contact us. We have created a full line of quality hair care products to help keep your hair moisturized.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens, an actress and musician known in particular for her role in High School Musical, showed up on the red carpet of the VMAs with beautiful, wavy hair done in a “flower child” style. In addition to her shiny, wavy locks that fell gracefully over her shoulders and down her back, her hair style was crowned with a braided ring around her head. With a few pieces of hair jewelry mixed in, her style was absolutely stunning.

Kat Graham

As an actress, model, singer and dancer, Kat Graham takes great pride in looking her best at all times. With her beautiful highlights in her gorgeous brown hair, she is the envy of many. At the VMAs, Graham was sporting a fun short look punctuated by elegant waves.

Nicki Minaj

Although typically known for her outrageous wigs in a variety of funky colors and styles, the do Nicki Minaj chose for the VMAs was fairly tame in comparison. Her straight, dark brown locks were sleek and shiny as they hung down her back.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato, a well-known singer, songwriter and actress, appeared on the VMA red carpet sporting a slicked back hair style uncommon among many of the other women in attendance. Overall, the short tresses helped complete her look, creating a beautiful appeal no one else can achieve.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora, singer and judge for X Factor, appeared at the VMAs with a fun new look for her platinum blond hair. Pulled severely back from her forehead, her locks were left to cascade down her back. However, instead of simply falling straight down, her hair was twisted into a series of small knots that created an interesting new look.

Miley Cyrus

While most people were busy talking about the outfit Miley Cyrus wore to host the VMAs, her hair was done in a dramatic look that could’ve outshined just about any other outfit. Twisted into dreadlocks, Miley sported beautiful blond hair extensions that were accented by metallic rosettes and cascaded down her back.

Checking out the celebrity hair styles is all part of watching and enjoying the VMAs. This year, there were many classic looks, as well as fun new trends. When you use quality hair products for remy hair on your own hair, you can create the same beautiful looks.

Classic Hairstyles for Men: The Side Part

Get a great hairstyle with quality hair care.

Quality hair care will allow you to create a great hairstyle.

We spend a lot of time discussing the latest hairstyles for women because let’s face it, women focus more on creating the ideal look. However, this doesn’t mean men don’t think about it at all. In fact, it’s just as important for men to exercise quality hair care, such as using a sulfate free shampoo and leave in conditioner, as well as pay attention to the way they style their hair. Today, many classic styles are still on trend, such as the side part.

Tips for Creating a Great Side Part

Creating your side part requires a little practice. You may even have to break away from everything you’ve been taught since you started combing your own hair as a young child. Choose a side and carefully pull your comb through your hair from your temple, straight to the back of your head. Make your part as straight as possible. This will create the classic look you see in television shows and movies from the 50s and 60s.

Consider the Length of Your Hair

Create a good side part with the help of a leave in conditioner.

A leave in conditioner can help you create a good side part.

The classic side part works best for short to medium length hair. While you can achieve this style with longer hair, it doesn’t have quite the same effect. In fact, it can begin to look sloppy and less formal. In these situations, a center part or slicked back look can be better. In addition to making sure your hair is the perfect length for your side part, this hairstyle typically works better on hair that is tapered at the back and front of the head. However, be careful not to ask for a fade haircut because this doesn’t look as nice.

Use the Right Quality Hair Care Products

Once you have mastered the placement of your side part hairstyle, you need to make sure you’re using the right hair products to hold your look and keep it looking great. Sulfate free shampoo will keep your hair healthy and shiny without leaving behind too much oil. A leave in conditioner can help create the finished look you want. Hair gel or styling wax can also be used to ensure your hair stays in place. This may become a necessity if your hair is particularly short.

While many men don’t put a lot of effort into their hair, it’s still necessary to make sure you choose a hairstyle that looks polished and finished, especially for work and special occasions. The side part may be a classic look that dates back decades, but it is still a simple hairstyle that can be formal, as well as casual. With the right quality hair care products, you will be able to produce the look you want and keep your hair looking great.

Should You Color Your Hair?

Ensure a great color with quality hair care.

Quality hair care will ensure a great color.

One of the easiest ways to transform your look is to change up your hair. For some, this means a hair cut, extensions, a wig or a brand new hair color, but should you color your hair? With all the information going around about how dyes affect your hair, you may be worried about what coloring will do to your hair. Let’s talk about the hair dying process and what effects it can have.

What’s in a Strand?

First, we need to talk about your hair itself. If you’re using quality hair care, your hair will be nice and healthy so there shouldn’t be much damage to your strands. Each strand is made up of a protein called keratin, which is also what your fingernails are made of. Keratin is arranged in overlapping scales to form each hair strand, making the hair flexible.

Each hair strand has a cuticle, which is the protective outer layer. This actually determines how healthy and shiny your hair looks so if you’ve been using your sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, your cuticle will be in top shape! If you haven’t been using quality sulfate free shampoo, your cuticle could be raised, making your hair seem dry and damaged.

Hair Dyes

Color your hair while using a sulfate free shampoo.

Use sulfate free shampoo when you color your hair.

Now that we know more about hair (and the importance of quality hair care!) let’s talk about the dying process. There are a few types of hair color we need to look at. Permanent, semi-permanent and demi-permanent hair color all have different ingredients, processes and effects on your hair.

  • Permanent: Permanent hair color is a two-step process. This is without a doubt the most damaging of the options because it forces your cuticle open to let the color in. First, ammonia is applied. This chemical causes the cuticle to open up in order to let the dye into your hair. Then, peroxide is used to penetrate the hair and remove your existing hair color. Once this process is finished, you’ll have a brand new hair color! You’ll then use a conditioner to close the cuticle again in order to seal the color inside. This process is the one used in average salon color treatments and most box hair color you buy at the supermarket or drugstore. It is important you use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner in order to preserve the color after you dye it!
  • Semi-Permanent: This process is much gentler and usually lasts about a month. This option doesn’t involve ammonia or peroxide, instead adding tiny molecules of color to your hair cuticle without dramatically changing the color. The color will fade after a few shampoos so using a sulfate free shampoo is important in order to make your new color last.
  • Demi-Permanent: This type of dye lasts longer than semi and contains no ammonia but does use a small amount of peroxide. The process coats each strand with large color molecules, helping it last longer than semi-permanent. Quality hair care and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner will help your color last even longer.

Does dying damage your hair? When done in moderation, no. However, if you dye your hair too often, it can and will result in damaged and dry hair, which will be extremely difficult to repair. If you’re looking to dye your hair, make sure it’s the color you want to cut back on dying too often!

If you want to change your hair color without damage, contact us. Our quality hair care will keep your hair looking healthy and beautiful long after you color!

Great Groom and Groomsman Styles

The men in your wedding party can look great with quality hair care.

With quality hair care, the men in your wedding party can look great.

The bride is often the main focus when planning a wedding, but this doesn’t mean the groom and his groomsmen don’t want to look their best as well. Men may not make an appointment with the barber for the big day, but there are things they can do to make sure their hair looks great too. Quality hair care with a hydrating shampoo that is free of sulfates will ensure you have a hairstyle you can be proud of for your wedding day.

Prepare Before the Wedding Day

There’s nothing worse than scrambling around the day or week before the wedding to make sure everything is just right. There are plenty of things that have to wait until this time period, but your hair isn’t one of them. Several months before the wedding, make sure you switch to a sulfate free shampoo to strip your hair of the damaging chemicals found in other shampoos.  A quality  will help restore your hair to great condition. If you plan to get a haircut, schedule it for no less than a week prior to your wedding. This will allow any potential mistakes time to grow out a bit.

Choose the Right Hair Products

In addition to quality hair care, you will need to choose hair products to use to create the perfect groom and groomsman styles. Instead of choosing a product that creates a wet or slicked look, choose a styling product that creates a matte finish. A slicked hairdo may look great on you in person, but in photographs, the flash will reflect off your hair and won’t look as sleek. The goal is to make your hair look as natural as possible.

Create the Ideal Hairstyle

Your hairstyle is a reflection of your personality. When you’re preparing for the big day, creating the perfect hairstyle may not feel like a top priority, but it should be. For instance, one popular wedding hairstyle involves cropping the sides short and leaving your hair a little longer on the top. With a little styling gel, you can sweep your hair to the side or back to complete the look. These days, a slightly messy hairdo can be the perfect way to style your hair before you walk down the aisle. If you prefer longer hair, using a matte hair product to sweep your hair away from your face will provide a finished appearance that isn’t overdone.

Whether you’re preparing to walk down the aisle or you’re standing up with a good friend or close family member, it’s important to make sure every aspect of your appearance is just right. This includes your hair. It all starts with quality hair care with a sulfate free shampoo and ends with the hairstyle you choose to complement your look and create a perfect day.

If you’re looking for the best hydrating shampoo for your wedding day look, contact us. We carry a full selection of quality hair products designed for healthy hair for men and women.

Long Hair Care for Your Remy Locks

Create beautiful long hair with hair extensions.

Hair extensions can help you create beautiful locks.

When you have long hair, whether naturally or because of the addition of hair extensions, taking good care of your hair is different than if you have a shorter do. For starters, you need to use hair products for remy hair, such as the Glam Rocker sulfate free shampoo. In addition to using the right shampoo and conditioner to protect your hair, these tips will ensure your long locks look great and stay healthy.

Brush Your Hair Often

Regular brushing is one of the best ways to promote the health of your hair and help it continue to grow well. Using a wide toothed comb will help you gently detangle your hair and reduce the occurrence of breakage. When you do brush and comb your hair, make sure to pull gently. Being careless will cause more pain and can lead to brittle hair that easily breaks. Excessive pulling can also cause your hair extensions to come loose.

Wash with Care

Keep your long hair looking great with sulfate free shampoo.

Sulfate free shampoo helps your long hair look great.

Washing your hair when you’re wearing hair extensions doesn’t need to be done on a daily basis. In fact, if you wash your hair too often, you could weaken the connection between the extensions and your own hair and cause them to loosen prematurely. In addition to reducing the number of times you wash your hair, make sure you use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to ensure the longevity of your locks.

Use Care in Styling

Styling your long hair is a necessity because you need to make sure you protect your remy hair to prevent damage. This means staying away from heat as much as possible. There are several natural methods of achieving the curls and waves you’re looking for. If you must use a styling tool, keep the heat low. For ponytails and other updos, don’t pull elastics too tightly to avoid damaging your hair extensions.

Sleep on Silk

Cotton and other synthetic materials may feel soft to the touch, but they can easily snag your hair and cause tangles, especially with longer hair. Silk is your best option for keeping your hair healthy while you sleep. Choose silk pillowcases and consider wrapping your head in a silk scarf. The smooth silk will prevent tangles, which can lead to breakage when you’re coming or brushing.

Consider Vitamin E

Vitamin E has a lot of benefits for your natural hair and can also benefit your remy hair extensions. Regularly massage this vitamin oil into your hair and scalp, promoting healthy hair growth. You can use this oil by itself or consider mixing it with coconut oil.

Taking care of your long hair, especially when you have hair extensions, can be a challenge. If you want your extensions to last longer, it’s important to use these tips to ensure your hair is clean and beautiful. These steps will help you protect both your natural hair and any replacement pieces you are using to enhance your look.

If you’re looking for the best sulfate free shampoo for your hair extensions, contact us. Our Glam Rocker products are designed with extensions and remy hair in mind.
