Take good care of your hair with quality hair care products.

Quality hair care will make your prom hairstyle look great.

Prom is a magical time marked by excitement and a flurry of activity. You’ve got to lock in your date; find a stunning dress, perfect shoes and dazzling accessories; arrange for your makeup to be done; and decide how you’ll style your hair. Many girls opt for up-dos because these styles have become the standard-issue hairdo for prom, but you’re no standard-issue girl. You’re a trendsetter who loves to turn heads. The best way to do that is by wearing your hair down for prom! You want your style to stand out so grab some hair extensions and experiment. Here are three looks to try for your special day.

Go Glam with Corkscrew Curls

Create great looking hair with sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.

Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner creates luscious locks.

To get this look, part your dry hair to one side and spritz on a heat-set spray. Work in sections and use a gator clip to secure the hair you aren’t working on so it stays out of the way. Using a one-inch or larger diameter curling iron, curl a section of hair from bottom to top. Here’s the key: when you release a curl, unwind it slowly and gently from your curling iron instead of pulling the curling iron away from the hair. This will keep the corkscrew-shaped curls intact. Repeat on all of your hair and finish the look with a pretty sparkly clip and humidity-resistant hairspray.

Go Retro with Classic Curls

If your prom dress is a classic, pair it with this equally timeless hairstyle that will stand up to a full night of dancing. After you’ve towel-dried you hair and massaged smoothing cream through it, comb it and part it deeply to whichever side you prefer. To recreate this style, you’ll need a 1-1/4-inch diameter curling iron. Spritz on heat-set spray and curl sections of hair from the middle to the roots (leaving hair around the scalp untouched). Let curls thoroughly cool and then smooth the hair near your scalp with a paddle brush. Using a light hand, gently brush back curls to achieve a soft look. Spritz on a medium-hold spray and you are ready to dance the night away!

Pin-Up Girl

Complement your hairstyle with quality hair extensions.

Hair extensions can help you achieve these great looks.

Vintage glam is a big prom trend and with it is pin-up long hair. Part hair diagonally and dry it while working a paddle brush so hair wraps around your head. Using a one-inch diameter curling iron, make large curls at the crown of your head and pin each back to cool. Repeat throughout your hair. Once hair cools, gently remove the pins securing the bottom pins only, allowing curls to flow loosely. Do not brush! Keep the top curls pinned and use bobby pins to meticulously place them. Spritz with maximum-hold spray to secure the look.

A Word about Hair Extension Care

The styles above will come alive with hair extensions. Most are made of synthetic hair so they require  products so they don’t become damaged. Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner are the best options for gently cleansing your extensions. You don’t skimp on products for your natural hair so make sure to treat your extensions with the same TLC.
